ORCHESTRA

Rehearsal Time:  Wednesdays, 7:00-8:30 P.Mm
Where:  Worship Center Stage
Director:  Scott Copeland, Instrumental Music Director

The Orchestra at Lavon Drive is an integral component in realizing our philosophy of blended music. By utilizing orchestral instrumentation for all congregational and choral music, the church is able to be exposed to an extraordinary variety of literature with the common denominator of orchestral accompaniment tying the package together. The orchestra is comprised of approximately 25 musicians, comprised of symphonic orchestral instruments, and a full rhythm section. Literature is broad and comprises everything from art song to urban gospel and everything in between.

Players high school and older are welcome to join the orchestra without audition. Players in junior high will need to audition. Haven’t played your horn since high school? High school was thirty years ago? That’s okay! You can usually play at the level where you left off with just about six weeks of diligent practice. A good measure of your readiness to join the orchestra is that you have had at least two complete, consecutive years of experience on your instrument, even if that was years ago.
