Carry the Gospel to Nicaragua, Nov 1 - 7, 2022

Join us for this incredible mission journey!

In November 2022, join your LDBC family for an incredible mission trip trip to Jinotega, Nicaragua to serve with our Mission Partner Nathan Pendleton and his ministry, Deeply Rooted Grounds.

About Deeply Rooted Grounds

Deeply Rooted Grounds (DRG) is a non-profit organization based in Jinotega, Nicaragua that provides food, unlimited access to clean water, medical treatment, education and healing for the soul to over 9000 people daily across more than 40 feeding centers. Their newest initiative is to provide a home for orphans with terminal illness and physical disabilities. The founder and director of DRG is Nathan Pendleton, who joined us for our 2022 Global Impact Celebration. At that event, we learned about the incredible work he is doing in Nicaragua, and we are excited to be able to travel there and partner with him to serve that community and help make a difference in peoples’ lives.

What will we do?

This partially depends on the makeup of the group God puts together.  Mission trips can include any/all of the following:

  • Serve at the feeding centers
  • Provide medical / dental services
  • Provide activities, games with kids at Dream Center
  • Community Outreach in coordination with local church
  • Serve at remote feeding program locations
  • Build a home for a local in need
  • Other options can be tailored to the specific needs / skill set of the group
Some Basics about the Trip
  • Flights: Air travel to Managua, Nicaragua via Miami. Air travel will be coordinated by LDBC
  • Ground Transportation: Provided by DRG. They will meet us in Managua and transport us to Jinotega and provide all necessary transportation throughout the week
  • Lodging: Lodging in Jinotega is at the lovely Hotel Café Jinotega. The hotel is well-appointed by 3rd world standards and will be comfortable for the typical American traveler. Rates are based on double occupancy.
  • Food: If you’re expecting to lose a few pounds on your trip don’t! Team members will have a mixture of typical Nicaraguan meals and everyday American fare. Expect to eat plenty of red beans, rice, tortillas, chicken, plantains, and eggs.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
  • Anyone age 12+ as of November 1, 2022 is welcome to participate.
  • Must have a US Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the end of the trip (May 8, 2023)
  • The location of the areas where we’ll serve requires some light hiking through uneven terrain that could be very muddy/slippery when it rains (which is quite often).
WHAT IF I DON’T HAVE A PASSPORT?

It’s always a great idea to have a valid passport, and it’s easy to apply for one. Passports take 8-11 weeks to process or can be expedited ($60 extra) and will arrive in 5-7 weeks.  Learn everything you need to know  here

ANY TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS?
As of May 6, 2022, a negative COVID-PCR/SEROLOGY test must be presented at the Augusto C. Sandino International Airport taken a maximum of 72 hours prior to entry. The COVID-19 test results should be sent electronically to the airline prior to the date of travel. Upon return to the USA, COVID testing will be arranged for the day prior to return, and a negative test will be required for re-entry.  There are no vaccination requirements.
