Choir and Orchestra

The Music Ministry exists to complement the church’s mission of loving God and loving people by proclaiming the love of God and leading people to worship. Serving in Music Ministry means connecting to a community that is passionate about worship and about unifying around a common goal to see others have authentic experiences with the Lord as they lift their voices and instruments together in praise. Participation in the Music Ministry means:

  • Leading music in services Sunday morning services
  • Producing seasonal musicals and special performances
  • Performing musical outreach events (such as caroling at the Dallas Arboretum)
  • Producing recordings
  • Serving as backup choir for guest artists (in recent years has included the Singing Men of Texas, David Phelps, Mark Lowry, Selah, Babbie Mason, and Larnelle Harris).

The music at Lavon Drive is blended, and both services on Sunday morning are identical, characterized by a wide variety of literature from modern favorites to hymns, with anthems ranging from art song to inspirational to contemporary and gospel. The bar for excellence is very high, and the blended philosophy of the ministry creates a challenging yet highly rewarding environment for the development of well-balanced musicianship and spiritual leadership.
