Discomfort in the Christian lifeāespecially within the churchāis not a sign of being off course, but part of Godās process for shaping believers into Christās image. Drawing from 1 Peter 2:4-12, we see that Jesus is the āliving stoneā rejected by the world yet chosen and precious to God, and our response to Him determines both our present identity and eternal destiny. As His holy priesthood, the church is called to offer spiritual sacrifices, display glimpses of the coming New Creation, and live in such a way that the world will see and glorify God. Ultimately, embracing the controversial Savior, our sacrificial calling, and the scrutiny of the world leads to Godās glory being revealed now and in the day of His visitation.
