That’s why we’ve created opportunities where students can connect with friends, have fun, and grow in a positive environment. Whether it’s weekly gatherings, special events, or trips, your teen will find a place to belong, discover their purpose, and develop lasting friendships.
Every Wednesday night at Lavon Drive, students gather for an exciting, positive environment designed just for them. Doors open at 6:30 PM for a time of worship, fun, and a message from our student pastor, John Mark Ray. It’s a place where your teen can connect with friends, grow in their faith, and discover that following Jesus is the most meaningful adventure they could ever have.
At Thrive Student Ministries, your teen is led by our student pastor, John Mark Ray, a dedicated leader who has a heart for guiding the next generation. John Mark combines energy and biblical truth in a way that connects with students and challenges them to grow in their faith. Parents can also have peace of mind knowing safety is a top priority at Thrive. Every volunteer goes through background checks and training to ensure a secure environment where teens can thrive spiritually, socially, and emotionally.
On Wednesday nights our teens experience a variety of activities, all designed to point them to a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ. We enjoy worship together, challenging messages from Pastor John Mark, games, activities, and small groups where they are challenged to make faith personal.
Wednesday night the doors open at 6:30, and the service will begin at 7:00 PM!
Thrive meets in the Hayes Center, located at 1520 Lavon Drive, Garland, TX 75040. The Hayes Center is a central feature to our campus, with a wood pavilion facing Highway 78 that is hard to miss!
John Mark Ray has served as Student Pastor at Lavon Drive since 2020, leading Thrive Student Ministries with passion and purpose. He has a deep heart for helping teenagers grow in their walk with Christ, equipping them to stand strong in their faith while navigating the challenges of today’s world. Known for his energy, authenticity, and biblical teaching, John Mark creates an environment where students feel welcomed, valued, and encouraged to live out their God-given calling.
John Mark is married to his wife, Rebekah, and together they love investing in the lives of students and families. Their partnership in ministry reflects their shared commitment to seeing the next generation thrive both spiritually and personally.
On a regular Wednesday night service, teens will have an opportunity to participate in Student-Led worship, followed by a message by Pastor John Mark Ray. Pastor John Mark presents applicable, challenging messages to meet teenagers where they are and inspire them to strive for more in their relationship with Jesus Christ.
