Middler Department

By the time children reach the third and fourth grades, their question concerning God and His Word changes from “What did God do?” to “Why did God do that?” In the Middler Department at Lavon Drive Baptist Church, dedicated teachers are committed to ensuring that each child has a personal relationship with the Lord and then helping him or her reach that next level in their spiritual journey through Biblical discipleship.

Use of the Master Teacher approach allows the children to be taught the Word of God in a large setting, but then divides the children into smaller groups where exciting and diverse activities are used to help reinforce the truths taught during the lesson. Small groups consist of a teacher/student ratio of one to seven for a more personal touch. All teachers and volunteers are identified by their photo identification badge worn at all times, indicating that they have passed background checks.

Check in for Middlers takes place in the hallway of the Academy Building located on the far north side of the campus. From the check in station, third graders are directed to Room # 8, while fourth graders go to Room #9. Parents may pick up their child from these locations at the end of Sunday school, 10:30 a.m., if they are not planning on attending the worship service at 10:50 a.m. For those parents staying for the morning worship service, third and fourth graders are taken directly to “Power Hour,” (the children’s worship hour program ~ see Middler “Power Hour”).
